Pond Filter
Evolution Aqua Ltd. EazyPod Air
Model: EazyPod Air
A mechanical + biological external pond filter using static K1 Micro media, supplied with an Airpump 70 Kit for air‑backwash and aeration. Manufacturer states suitability for ponds up to 10,000 litres and an absolute maximum flow of 10,000 L/h (recommended flow 5,000 L/h).

About Evolution Aqua Ltd. EazyPod Air
The Evolution Aqua EazyPod Air is an external mechanical and biological pond filter supplied with an Airpump 70 Kit (used to provide air‑backwash cleaning of the K1 Micro and to aerate the pond). The filter body is a passive vessel: water is moved through it by a separate water pump (not supplied). Manufacturer documentation states the EazyPod provides a mechanical outer chamber and a central chamber filled with static K1 Micro media (18 litres supplied) to give biological filtration. The unit holds approximately 80 litres of water internally and is rated by Evolution Aqua for ponds up to 10,000 litres (the product spec shows this same value for ornamental fish and for koi/heavily stocked ponds; EA does not publish a separate reduced koi‑only volume for this model). Important installation and limits are given by EA: the recommended flow is 5,000 L/h and the manufacturer warns the flow must not exceed 10,000 L/h (the latter is quoted as the absolute maximum permitted). The EazyPod Air does not include an internal UV clarifier as standard (an 18 W PL‑L UV is available as an optional upgrade or on the separate EazyPod Complete model). Evolution Aqua supplies the EazyPod Air with a 10 m roll of silicone airline and an Airpump 70 Kit; official EA documents show conflicting figures for the Airpump 70’s electrical power and some performance numbers (see Limitations). The EazyPod body’s maximum head (m), weight and IP rating are not stated by the manufacturer; pump selection and pump curve must be used to determine head in an installation.
Best for
Ponds up to 10,000 L (ornamental fish); pond owners wanting a K1 Micro biological filter with air‑backwash cleaning and pond aeration; pump‑fed installations where a separate water pump provides flow.
Things to consider
Manufacturer documentation contains official conflicts for the Airpump 70 supplied with EazyPod Air: the Air Pumps product page/brochure lists the pump as 34 W and 52 L/min at 1 m, while the Airpump 70 instruction manual lists 39 W (UK/EU) and 48 W (USA) and shows 44 L/min at 1 m (both are published on evolutionaqua.com). The EazyPod body’s maximum head (m), net weight, mains power cable length and IP/ingress protection rating are not stated by Evolution Aqua for the EazyPod Air model. The unit is supplied without a UV clarifier; an 18 W PL‑L UV is an optional upgrade or available on the EazyPod Complete model. The filter is passive and relies on the site’s water pump selection to provide head and flow — EA does not quote a single maximum head for the filter vessel itself.
Installation
Supplied ready for pump‑fed setup; gravity‑fed use requires modification as described in the EA manual. Pump must not be placed on the pond base — raise the pump at least 12 inches above the pond base to reduce risk of full pond drainage if the pump fails. Gravity return pipework should be a minimum of 3" (90 mm), increasing to 4" (110 mm) for flows over 7,500 L/h; pipework must have no restrictions. Provide a solid, level base (EA recommends a minimum 600 mm × 600 mm footprint). Use the manufacturer’s assembly and plumbing instructions in the EazyPod manual.
Maintenance
The Airpump 70 Kit is used to perform air‑backwash cleaning of the K1 Micro media — the system and supplied fittings are intended to allow regular air‑backwash maintenance (EA manual describes procedure). The unit includes a waste purge (50 mm slide/ball valve) for draining/scrubbing the mechanical chamber. K1 Micro media maintenance and any UV lamp replacement (if fitted or upgraded) should follow Evolution Aqua guidance; EA does not publish a fixed cleaning interval for the EazyPod Air in the supplied documents.
Safety
Do not position the water pump on the pond base; raise it at least 12" per EA guidance. Ensure the EazyPod sits on a solid, level base to avoid distortion and ensure safe access. Maintain unrestricted gravity return pipework sized per EA recommendations to avoid overpressure or restricted flow. IP rating for the EazyPod Air is not stated by EA — take electrical safety precautions for any external equipment and follow local regulations.
