About Evolution Aqua Ltd. EazyPod
The Evolution Aqua EazyPod is a compact mechanical and biological pond filter from Evolution Aqua's Nexus family designed for garden ponds and ornamental fish or koi systems up to 10,000 litres (manufacturer guidance). The base EazyPod is a passive plastic filter body intended primarily for pump‑fed installations; it holds 18 litres of static K1 Micro media and the manufacturer lists an internal/filter water volume of 80 litres. Evolution Aqua recommends running the EazyPod at about 5,000 L/h (a two‑hour turnover for a 10,000 L pond) but explicitly permits flows up to 10,000 L/h (the stated maximum flow). The base model has manual cleaning: an air ring in the chamber is agitated using an external air pump for backwash and solids are removed via a 1½" (50 mm) slide waste purge valve. Inlet and outlet connections are sized in the manual (1½" inlet hosetail, and a supplied 4"→3" return connector consistent with 110/90 mm pipework guidance). The base unit contains no integrated electronics or UV lamp; UV and automatic variants exist (EazyPod Complete / Automatic) and include additional components such as UV lamps, motorised valves and control boxes which the manuals describe separately. The manufacturer lists a two‑year warranty for the base EazyPod. Several installation, pipework and pump‑selection requirements are given in the official manuals; refer to Evolution Aqua’s product and installation pages for the exact diagrams and guidance.
Best for
Garden ponds, ornamental fish and koi ponds up to 10,000 L where a compact mechanical + biological filter with manual backwash is required; pump‑fed installations.
Things to consider
Manufacturer documentation does not state a maximum head (m) or the product weight for the base EazyPod—these values are Unknown in the official manuals. The base EazyPod has no electrical cable (non‑electrical body) so no cable length is given. Evolution Aqua documents show differing numeric specifications for the EA AirPump 70 in two official files (brochure: 70 L/min, 34 W, 3.2 m cable; pump curve doc: 40 L/min, 30 W); this conflict is present in the supplied manufacturer materials. IP/protection ratings and warranties differ by variant (Automatic and Complete variants have specific IP ratings and different warranty terms) — the ratings in variant manuals do not apply to the passive base unit.
Installation
Unit is supplied set up for pump‑fed installation. Manufacturer requires a solid, level support at least 600 × 600 mm. Pump position guidance: raise pump approximately 300 mm off the pond base if following the manual. Gravity return pipework should be a minimum 3" (90 mm) or 4" (110 mm) for flows over 7,500 L/h, must be unrestricted with appropriate fall and no airlocks. Do not exceed the stated maximum flow of 10,000 L/h.
Maintenance
Base EazyPod is manually cleaned: use an external air pump to agitate the K1 Micro via the air ring for backwash, then open the 1½" slide waste valve to purge solids. K1 Micro media supplied/required is 18 L. Manufacturer lists a maximum fish feed rate of 100–120 g/day in the manual; follow manual guidance for cleaning intervals and backwash procedures.
Safety
Base EazyPod is a passive, non‑electrical filter body; no IP rating is provided for the base unit in the manual. Electrical components, UV lamps or motorised valves are only present on the Complete/Automatic variants and have their own IP ratings as stated in their manuals. Follow all electrical safety and local regulations when installing pumps, air pumps and any electrical accessories.
