About OASE Bitron C 24 W
The Bitron C 24 W is a UVC pre-clarifier from OASE designed to reduce green water in garden ponds by exposing passing pond water to a 24 W UVC lamp. It is a bypass-style clarifier that allows individual regulation of flow through the UVC chamber using a manual throttle handle and offers a visual inspection window. OASE describes the unit as having an automatic (self-cleaning) rotor to reduce maintenance of the UVC sleeve. The product page gives a maximum flow capacity and manufacturer pond-size guidance; it also lists inlet and outlet connection sizes and supplies a universal stepped hose adaptor so you can fit standard hose or pipe sizes. Things to consider
OASE provides two different minimum flow statements on the same product page: the descriptive text says 3,500 l/h can flow past the UVC tube without a bypass, while the specification table lists a minimum flow of 4,000 l/h. Maximum head in metres is not stated on the product page (OASE gives a maximum operating pressure of 0.5 bar but not a head value). Protection rating / IP class is not provided. Pond capacities were given by OASE in cubic metres on the product page and have been converted to litres here (25.0 m³ → 25,000 L; 12.5 m³ → 12,500 L; 6.5 m³ → 6,500 L).
Installation
Unit connects via 25/32/38 mm inlet/outlets; a universal stepped hose barb (25–38 mm) is included. Bypass flow is manually adjustable with the throttle handle; use the inspection window to check operation. The quick-release closure contains a safety switch that deactivates the lamp when opened. Observe the rated mains supply (220–240 V / 50/60 Hz) and the stated maximum operating pressure of 0.5 bar. Refer to the OASE instruction manual for full installation guidance.
Maintenance
The unit includes an automatic (self-cleaning) rotor to reduce fouling on the UVC sleeve. OASE lists replacement lamps and spare parts; the product has no built-in UVC operating hours meter or temperature display, so track lamp life manually according to the replacement lamp guidance. Follow the manufacturer's manual for lamp replacement and maintenance schedules. Two-year guarantee applies per OASE.
Safety
Quick-release closure with safety switch disables the lamp when opened. OASE states the unit is 100% VDE-certified for safety. Operate only on the rated mains voltage and ensure the unit is installed and serviced according to the manufacturer's instructions.
