Air Pump
Evolution Aqua Airpump 70
Model: Airpump 70
Diaphragm air pump from Evolution Aqua with a manufacturer-stated maximum output of 70 litres per minute (4,200 L/h) and a maximum operating depth of 3.2 m. Documents from Evolution Aqua include conflicting power and performance figures; see limitations.

About Evolution Aqua Airpump 70
The Evolution Aqua Airpump 70 is a diaphragm-type aeration pump intended for garden-pond and filtration-system use. Evolution Aqua publishes a manufacturer-stated maximum free-air output of 70 litres per minute (which converts to 4,200 litres per hour) and a maximum recommended operating depth (maximum head) of 3.2 metres. The pump is supplied and supported in Evolution Aqua product bundles (for example as the recommended air pump for some EazyPod filtration systems) and is available with a 4‑port manifold when supplied as part of kit bundles. Manufacturer documentation lists the unit weight as 4.9 kg and provides detailed dimension drawings (manufacturer figures include the values 260.6 mm, 189.8 mm and 165.6 mm in the dimensions PDFs). The Airpump 70 manual and pump‑curve documents also show a rated pressure of 0.13 kg/cm2 and an operating range around 0.05–0.2 kg/cm2. Evolution Aqua recommends using a large internal-bore airline (8 mm or 10 mm ID) from the pump to terminal points and explicitly states that 4 mm airline is not suitable. The unit includes thermal protection and the manufacturer provides a 2-year warranty. Several numeric items are inconsistent across Evolution Aqua documents (notably electrical power consumption and measured airflow at depth). Evolution Aqua does not publish an IP ingress rating for the Airpump 70, nor does it give an explicit cable length in metres in the supplied documentation. The operating manual contains installation and safety instructions (do not submerge, do not expose to weather, use RCD protection, provide a drip loop and elevate the pump above the pond). For exact figures and regional variants consult the manufacturer PDFs and product page linked on this record.
Best for
Recommended by Evolution Aqua as the air pump for certain EazyPod filtration systems; general aeration duties where a 70 lpm diaphragm pump is required (see manufacturer documents for exact system matches).
Things to consider
Evolution Aqua publish multiple, conflicting numeric values across their product page, brochure, manual and pump-curve PDF. Electrical power (watts) is inconsistent between documents (examples include 34 W, 39 W, 30 W and 36 W entries) so a single power figure is not presented here. Airflow at depth figures also vary: the product page/brochure, the manual (UK/EU vs USA tables) and the pump-curve PDF give different airflow values at 1 m or rated pressure. Noise (dBA) figures differ between documents. The manufacturer does not state an IP rating, a cable length in metres, or a standalone pond/ fish/ koi capacity for the Airpump 70 in the first-party documents reviewed.
Installation
Follow the Evolution Aqua Airpump manual: do not submerge the unit; do not install where exposed to weather (unit must be weather protected); elevate the pump above pond water level; provide a drip loop on the mains cable; use RCD-protected supply; do not block the pump discharge. Use large-bore airline (8 mm or 10 mm ID recommended); 4 mm airline is not suitable.
Maintenance
The product manual includes exploded parts lists (check valves, manifold parts) and guidance for servicing; Evolution Aqua documentation does not specify fixed maintenance intervals in the supplied documents. Refer to the manufacturer manual and parts list for servicing and replacement parts.
Safety
Use RCD protection on the mains supply, provide a mains drip loop and ensure the pump is weather protected. The unit must not be submerged. Thermal protection is fitted; consult the manual for full safety and installation instructions.
